What is an Oil Spill?
The harmful release of oil into the environment either on land or in the ocean sometimes killing wildlife Oil spills are also very hard to clean up and also pollute areas around the spill.
Oil spills occur when people make mistakes or are careless and cause an oil tanker (ship carrying oil) to leak oil into the ocean. There are a few more ways an oil spill can occur. Equipment breaking down may cause an oil spill. Another way a oil spill can occur is a boat getting shot by a gun but that is very unlikely!
